LORI IS 50!!

Well, it's that time of life..... Lori is 50!! Of course she is my OLDER SISTER but I'm not far behind - Yikes! How does one get to this place in life? Weren't we only 25 a few years ago?

Really, it's hard to believe we are so close to "retirement" thinking. I remember even a few years ago thinking about the 60's seem like so far away - retirement - who needed to even spare a moment to think about it? Well, apparently we do as it is just around a very large corner. Of course when we look at our kids, I guess it makes sense. Lori's twins are in their 30's and mine in their mid 20's, But it's the proverbial, "I'm way too young to be this old" routine. I don't feel any different now than I did in my 20's. Of course looking in the mirror.... but I think losing your eyesight is God's grace. Without glasses on I look darn good! Every once in a while I need that close up (to apply some eyeliner etc), so I search out the reading glasses, put them on and it's a bit of a shock. Those glasses magically make fine lines and blemishes appear??... I knew I hated wearing those glasses. But alas, life goes on and as I said without those glasses I look darn good. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

HANSEL & GRETEL

Last Saturday, I took my two nieces to see the pantomine "Hansel & Gretel" at the Surrey Arts Centre. April is 3 and Michaella is 5. For those of you who don't know, a pantomine is an English tradition normally performed at Christmas time. It always involves good and evil, there is a villain and good always triumphs over evil. There is always a "dame". It is a lead male character playing a female. And the idea is that it's obvious that it's a man playing a woman..???... a little confusing to say the least. Also the main male character is played by a female also. In this case Hansel was a girl playing a boy... And there is always a "skin" character. A person dressed in an animal skin. This time it was "Kentucky" the overgrown chicken that the "dame" was riding...... I know, I've lost you now but being that I'm a "muser" I felt it necessary to impart my great wisdom.

However, in spite of ALL THAT pantomine is one of the biggest forms of interactive theatre. They always give the audience things to say. For example every time Kentucky came on stage we re required to shout out, "Whosee whoa Speedy Mo!". The kids really enjoyed it and it was long - 2/12 hours with the intermission, but it held their attention the whole time. Whosee Whoa Speedy Mo......

At the end of the panto (theatre talk..) the actors leave the stage and go into the lobby. The audience can get their programs signed and have photos taken with the actors. Michaella and April would not go near the witch. Tooo scary!! Michaella was into having her photo taken but April was a little shy of the whole thing. Overall it was a great time and a real joy to spend time with my little nieces

ELIJAH'S FIRST BATH AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE!

This is a very cute picture of Elijah having a bath in my sink! Sooo cute! Sarah was over and we were doing our Christmas baking. However, the night before I babysat Elijah for the VERY FIRST TIME. Sarah and Gerdi got tickets to the Canucks game (they won 3-1 by the way) so they left Elijah with me. I fed him his first bottle including formula.... Anyway, long story short he had a massive pooop at my house - hence the impromtu bath!
